Five reasons to choose GLOBALG.A.P.

GLOBALG.A.P. certification is widely trusted as a sourcing requirement for many major supply chains worldwide.

A GLOBALG.A.P. certificate can help you demonstrate your safer, more responsible production practices in a global marketplace and present opportunities for accessing new supply chains.

GLOBALG.A.P. standards are designed by sector experts and consulted publicly, giving stakeholders the chance to submit feedback.

This process results in standards that are robust and science-based, yet lean and fit for purpose – with practical implementation and farm realities at the forefront.

GLOBALG.A.P. operates a range of harmonization activities that aim to reduce duplication for producers. This is achieved primarily through add-ons to core solutions that can widen the scope of a single audit. Our benchmarking activities can also help to minimize the number of audits required of you by recognizing other schemes as equivalent to GLOBALG.A.P. standards and add-ons.

GLOBALG.A.P. standards are widely recognized in global supply chains, but worldwide standards are only effective if they also consider local practicalities. GLOBALG.A.P. national technical working groups exist to review local challenges to the implementation of GLOBALG.A.P. standards and develop guidelines (national interpretation guidelines) for how best to implement the standards where you are.

We understand that the journey to certification can be challenging. Our extensive capacity building activities – including training courses from the Academy, maintaining a trusted network of Registered Trainers, participating in capacity-building projects, and collaborating on TOUR stops – present a range of opportunities for you to connect with GLOBALG.A.P. experts and find help along the way.

GLOBALG.A.P. IFA certification has helped us establish a management system that allows us to improve our processes, comply beyond national regulations, and implement the strictest quality standards.

Get started: Five steps to certification

GLOBALG.A.P. standards and add-ons can be applied to the production processes of more than 700 different plant and aquatic species. Use the Solution Finder to discover information on standards and add-ons that are applicable to your specific production practices or explore our full portfolio. Download the necessary normative documents for the relevant standards and add-ons.

Implement the requirements of the standard and/or add-on and perform a self-assessment using the relevant checklist. The GLOBALG.A.P. Academy and our worldwide network of GLOBALG.A.P. Registered Trainers can assist with audit preparations and training.

Find and contact a GLOBALG.A.P. approved certification body (CB) of your choice to request an audit. All audits against our solutions are conducted by qualified, experienced auditors from accredited and independent third-party CBs.

Complete the CB audit according to the relevant checklist. CB auditors enter producer and audit information in the GLOBALG.A.P. IT platform, which facilitates the validation of GLOBALG.A.P. certificates and assessment results in the market.

Receive your certificate following a successful audit. Certificates are issued by the CB – valid for one year – and are available through the GLOBALG.A.P. IT platform. Producers and supply chain companies must be audited annually to retain their certified status. Certificate holders are encouraged to promote their certified status in their relevant network in accordance with the GLOBALG.A.P. trademarks use: policy and guidelines.
